BAY OF PLENTY IN A DAY
The Bay of Plenty was so named by the British explorer Captain Cook in the 1700’s because of its rich soil and temperate climate making it the centre of New Zealand’s Kiwi Fruit industry. Also it encompasses some of the finest beaches for swimming and surfing. View the panorama
From the top of Mount Maunganui or take a flight out to New Zealand’s only active volcano – White Island.

Depart Rotorua 8.30am heading along the scenic highway to Paengaroa. A stop at the Comvita visitor centre to discover the home of natural health and bee products. Next stop is Kiwifruit  360 where we board the Kiwifruit train and ride through the famous orchard, including a pack house where fruit is packed for export. There is time allowed for any young, and young at heart, travellers to visit the Magic Castle or the Vintage car museum and sample some of the Kiwi fruit products.

On  towards Mount Maunganui for a light lunch. Time to relax and chat about the morning . At this point the travellers booked on the extravaganza will be taken to the airport where they board their flight for White Island.

Everyone else will have free time to shop or go for a swim in the Pacific Ocean, or the hot water pools. A  stroll along our wonderful beach or a short hike around the Mount are also favourites.
The way back to Rotorua is via the Harbour Bridge taking in the city highlights of Tauranga. We will arrive back in Rotorua at approximately 4.45 pm
The Bay in a Day can be scaled down to half a day for people who don't have the extra time to spare. The Bay Extravaganza is a tour on its own which could include and a flight to White Island (an active volcano in the Pacific Ocean) or a visit to Hobbiton. Please Note: Weather dependent
